MCC stands for Google Ads' old name "My Client Center", today called a manager account. It is designed to view and manage several Google Ads accounts under one roof and is the standard working tool of agencies. Linking to the agency's manager account lets the agency work in your account without a password.
What a manager account link does and does not do
Does:
- The agency's team enters your account with their own Google users; who did what shows up in the change history with a user name.
- Campaigns, budgets, keywords and ads can be managed.
- The agency follows several clients from one panel; reports and alerts are consolidated.
Does not:
- Take ownership of the account. The account is always yours; you cut the link.
- Change your billing profile by default (unless admin access was granted).
- Access your Google account, Gmail or other Google products. The link concerns the Google Ads account only.
Accepting the link (client side)
- The agency sends a link request from its manager account; a notification reaches the admin email of your account.
- In Google Ads open Admin (gear) → Access and security → Managers.
- In the pending request verify the agency's name and 10-digit ID, then click Accept.
- Set the access level: Standard is enough for campaign management. Admin also opens sensitive operations such as adding users and billing settings; grant it only if truly required.
You can also start the process yourself: on the same screen use the + button, enter the agency's manager account ID and send a link request.
Unlinking
On the same Managers tab click Remove link on the agency's row. The agency's access ends immediately; historical data and campaigns stay in your account. Reports left in the agency's own tools do not affect your account.
Frequently asked
The agency says "let's open the account under our MCC". Decline. An account created under the agency's manager account is owned by the agency; when you part ways you end up negotiating a transfer. Open the account with your own Google account and link the agency.
Does the link expose my payment method? With Standard access the billing profile cannot be changed. Invoice and spend information is visible because campaign management needs it.
Can more than one agency be linked? Yes; an account can be linked to several manager accounts. During a handover, remember to unlink the previous agency.
Manager account or OAuth?
A manager account link is the standard for an agency working inside the Google Ads interface. If the agency analyses your data in its own platform, it additionally connects to the Google Ads API via OAuth: you approve on Google's consent screen, and the platform receives an encrypted key that can only read ads data and, if you allowed it, apply changes. Both can be used together; neither involves sharing a password.
On the YUEN Platform the Google Ads connection is made via OAuth; AI analysis and expert execution happen through that key and are visible in your portal. Details: Trust & access.
